The Body Shop Shows You Your New Fall Face Palette

So many products it's easy to get confused on what to use, how to use them and just how exactly they'll highlight your features. The Body Shop and celebrity make-up artist Chase Aston has teamed up together to show you how to balance fall's deep eyes with a beautiful lip.

Their new Colorglide Lipcolor (TM) ($12.50) comes in a whopping 37 shades, and contains high performance pigments for a long-lasting gorgeous pout.

The video is full of tips, tricks and how to balance it all. Pay close attention to The Body Shop's brand new lip color! If you buy one new product for fall, this long wearing lipstick is a winner.

According to Chase, here are the steps you should follow to achieve the perfect pout:

— First, start by priming your lips, gently polishing with The Body Shop Lip Scuff.

— Fill in lines to help prevent feathering with The Body Shop Lip Line Fixer

— For added definition of your natural lip-line apply The Body Shop Lip Liner featuring a soft pencil for a smooth and easy application.

— For the final step, simply enhance the natural color of your lips by gently gliding on new Colorglide(TM) Lip Color. You can apply using a Lipstick/Concealer Brush or Retractable Lipstick/Concealer Brush, for added pouting power.

As Chase says,“Colorglide(TM)Lip Color is a long&endash;lasting, moisturizing and easy to use and I love how it effortlessly sweeps across the surface of the lips, for a fabulous wash of moisturizing color. There's a shade for all seasons, all occasions and all skin tones.”

Panache Lingerie Does a Body Good.

We're naked underneath our clothes. I think comedian Rita Rudner once said that, and the phrase has been stuck in my head for years. When you think about it, what do you really want next to your skin? Basic, serviceable yet boring underpinnings? How about lacy, racy, mentally uplifting goodies?
Me, I want the stuff that's going to make me feel like a femme fatale, even if I'm outwardly adorned in a tee and jeans. It may be that no one else may know why I have that special sparkle in my eye, but every woman knows that wearing sexy lingerie can turn an average day into a spectacular one.
That's why I've developed a hankering for Panache Lingerie. It's a UK based brand. Everyone knows what the Brits think of lingerie; they use the phrase French Knickers to describe Tap Pants. Okay, which phrase sounds deliciously naughty? Panache
Panache specializes in D+ cups (I call that adult sizes), but if you're on the other end of the spectrum, they do (thankfully) make bras in sizes 32-38 AA-C. The fetching items are priced $20-$68.
Find Panache at www.bareneccessities.com, Herroom.com Nordstrom, www.nordstrom.com
and other retailers nationwide.

Christian Siriano Meets Victoria's Secret

Fashion designer Christian Siriano, past winner of Project Runway is an unstoppable train! This is meant in a good way.

Christian 060 The designer who was loved, hated and gave the world the phrase that just won't die, "hot tranny mess,"on Project Runway has showed his design genus season after season.   He's designed for Bluefly.com, Payless Shoes and now has a limited collection of cosmetic goodies for Victoria's Secret.Christian makeup014

His cosmetic collection inspired by  Egypt; the colors of the desert, the blueness of the Nile.  There's eye shadows, lip gloss, big face brush, and a bronzer/highlighter duo. The collection is reasonable ($12 - $32), all packaged in a shiny gold finish. Of  course Christian's name is emblazoned on the side. Theres a gorgeous ruffled makeup bag that could double as an evening bag ($16), Christianbag012 that Christian told me he wanted to use it as a gift for his first row guests at his Mercedes Benz Fashion Week show, and found that they were sold out! So if you're lucky enough to get your paws on one of them, whoa, you are a lucky gal!

How do the cosmetics look, feel and most importantly last? Extremely well. I was lucky enough to have a makeover done by Polly Osmond, a Victoria's Secret make up artist. This is what I had on before I left the house:

Boots No.7 mineral base in New Ivory, Benefit Cosmetics Coralista, Revlon Colorstay lipstick #370, Cargo Cosmetics Essential Palette in Cool/Neutral,and Clinique mascara in Black.

Polly mixed Victoria Secret Soft Focus Foundation (SPF 20) medium and light for my base. Sultry eyeshadow quad, Christian's Kajal eye liner, his Sunspell/Afterglow bronzer/highlighter, lip liner in Ginger Spice, lip gloss in Melt mixedw with lip gloss in Wet. And of course black mascara.Christiandoing

It lasted through a long day and night. Lunch, a walk through the Highline, dinner and a night out. Nothing, not the eyeliner nor the mascara melted, fell or smudged.

You can find Christian Siriano's limited edition cosmetic collection at Victoria's Secret stores nationwide and at Victoriassecret.com

Style Rules

Style like anything else is subjective, not objective. However, I've been through enough dressing rooms and closets to figure out some basic style rules.

  1. Look before you leap. Use the mirror to not only check out the front of the outfit, but also the side and rear views. No one likes a wardrobe malfunction.
  2.  Just because it's tight, doesn't mean its sexy. Unless you're stripper.  If the outfit is positively gynecological, do you want an exam? In public?
  3. "Any color can be considered a neutral." Maternity designer Liz Lange told me this, and it's true.
  4.  Proportion. If you're wearing a tight top, go for a loose bottom. See rule 2.
  5.  "Mom the other kids are doing it!" Just because something's in for 5 minutes, doesn't mean you have to slavishly follow it.  If you look like crap in the trend, don't, just don't do it.
  6. Go Vintage! If you can't afford to compete with people who can afford higher end goods, wear something that's vintage. On the plus side, fewer people will have the item, vintage clothing is made incredibly well, and you'll be thought of as a style leader instead of a follower.
  7. If going vintage, don't go all out so you look like a period piece. There's a difference between looking chic and looking like you're wearing a costume.
  8. Size matters. Don't buy something if it doesn't fit. You'll either never wear it, or you'll be uncomfortable in it.
  9. Be comfortable. Yes, you can be chic and comfortable too.
  10. It's not who makes it, it's how it's made.  Check seams etc., on items to make sure their finished well, if not, don't buy it.
  11.  Posture. Your mom was right. If you carry yourself well, you'll look fabulous  no matter what you've got on.
  12. Dress for the occasion.
  13.  Not sure if you should buy it? If you're hesitating for any reason other than financial, you don't want it. Step away from the shirt!
  14. Accessories are your friend. They can give any outfit that extra zing.
  15. Take care of your shoes and purses. Usually they're the most expensive items you buy, and if you treat them well, they'll look new for years.
  16. Don't get stuck in a rut. Belly shirts  were fun at one point in your life, so was Bubble Yum.  You've moved on and Bubble Yum has gotten stale.
  17. Love yourself. Take care of yourself. If you don't respect and take care of yourself, it doesn't  matter what you have on.
Do you have a fav style rule? Do you think style rules are useless? I'm curious, please drop me a comment and let me know.
